When is Daylight Savings Time in 2009?

Marie M. Daniels
Daylight savings time for 2009 is on Sunday, November 1st, 2009 or 11/1/09 in the United States. It's that time of year to change the clocks again for daylight savings time. One way to remember which way to turn your clock to gain an hour or lose an hour is according to the seasons. In spring we spring ahead or set our clocks ahead 1 hour for daylight savings. In the fall, as we are in right now, we fall back or set our clocks back for 1 hour to get the daylight savings.

If you wanted to know exactly when to set your clock for daylight savings time in 2009 you need to set your clock back 1 hour at 2:00 AM on Sunday, November 1, 2009 (11/1/09). So on that Sunday at 2:00 AM you should set all your clocks back to 1:00 AM for daylight savings time.

Remember to set all of your clocks back for daylight savings time in 2009. Some clocks that are often forgotten are clocks on appliances such as your microwave and stove. I always forget to set my car clock to daylight savings time and sometimes it will be an hour off for a few days until I can remember how to change it to the right time.

Some of your clocks will get a signal or a download so that they will automatically update to the right daylight savings time. Most computers and cell phones will be automatically set without you having to lift a finger. You will still need to check these items because if they were bought before the daylight savings time change in 2007 they may update before it is needed. In 2007 they extended daylight savings time to help save on energy costs.

Daylight saving time can be confusing and even make you late for work, church or an appointment. Daylight Saving Time also known as DST and is observed in many countries but not all places use DST. If you want to find out when you should change your clocks you can find out at the world clock, just click on the link for your region. www.timeanddate.com/worldclock

After the time change you will notice how early it starts to get dark. This means that you may have to have your headlights on when you come home from work or use more careful driving during twilight. One nice thing about daylight savings time this year is that it happens after Halloween. That means that the little ghosts, goblins and vampires won't have to get their trick-or-treats in complete darkness this year.
