When Did it Stop Being Okay?

When did it stop being okay to be angry about things?

Nothing is allowed to make you cross anymore, for fear that you might offend someone with your anger, your negativity or heaven forbid, your opinion!
We're human beings! and human beings get angry about things, I'm not saying we should go around in a constant state of aggression, but it's okay if something makes you angry!

When did it stop being okay to hug people?

This is no joke, several schools within the UK have imposed a "hugging ban" on their pupils! They say that pupils should not hug because not everybody wants to be hugged and they could be the victim of "inappropriate hugging"
Now, I don't know a lot about teenagers (although I was one not that long ago) but from what I witness of them on a daily basis, if they don't want you to touch them or hug them, they will tell you in no uncertain terms!

When did it stop being okay to exercise common sense?

Three simple words "Health and safety" Now I appreciate that health and safety measures are there to stop people from getting hurt or in some cases sued. Great, protection is good, but what is now called health and safety used to be known as "common sense"
But common sense has no place in the workplace, not anymore.

When did it stop being okay for a comedian to make fun of someone?

Now, I'm not saying that people should allow comedians to bully people, but there are some people that are acceptable targets to comedians for instance politicians, bankers, estate agents etc, these are all fair game for a comedian, right?
Wrong. According to new BBC compliance guidelines, jokes should not be derogatory, inflammatory, intimidating, humiliating or intrusive, well what does that leave! A spokesman also said that jokes must be "proportionate to their target" We have guidelines on what we can and can't laugh at now!

That's my rant over for today!

Nothing wrong with rants. They help not only you release the frustration, but help us when we have the same kind of rants! :)

One of these days, our Internet connection will behave and I'll be able to read and leave relevant comments. Today doesn't seem to be that day. *sigh*
