When Does the Rose Parade 2011 Start?
Tournament of Rose Parade 2011 Starts at 8:00 A.M. PT Live in Pasadena
The Rose Parade 2011 will be broadcast live at 11:00 a.m. ET by the following networks: ABC, Hallmark Channel, HGTV, KTLA (Tribune), NBC, RFD-TV and Univision. If you can't make the 11:00 a.m. time then you can watch the Rose Parade 2011 on the Hallmark Channel at 1:00 p.m. ET when it will be re-shown.
The Rose Parade 2011 will be seen in over 200 international countries and the parade will attract approximately a million people to line the streets of Pasadena for the annual event. Many families begin lining the sidewalks of the parade route the evening before the start of the parade in order to stake out their spot for the Rose Parade 2011.
All these people watching the Rose Parade 2011 will be treated to approximately 40 of the most beautifully decorated floats that the imagination can conjure. This is about a dozen floats less than last year's Rose Parade. Considering that each float costs about $250,000 several of the non-profits that usually have floats in the Rose Parade have had to cancel for this year.
Paula Deen will be the Grand Marshal of the 2011 Tournament of Roses having been selected back on October 26, 2010. Ms. Deen will preside over the Rose Parade 2011 in the morning and then she will start the 97th Rose Bowl Game with the traditional coin toss.
The first Rose Parade was held way back in January 1890 in Pasadena, California. When the Rose Parade first started there was no football game to follow it. The Rose Bowl game was added to the New Year festivities in 1902. The Rose Bowl game was added because additional funds were needed to cover the cost of the lavish parade.
Enjoy the Rose Parade 2011 this year as you ring in the New Year with family and friends!
