When Should You Expect Results from a Weight Loss Program?

Aaron Tadeo
If you've been trying to lose weight and have been into your program for a while now, you must have been thinking about when you should expect to see results. There are a lot of people, a few of my friends do, think that after working out for around 2 days, they will see immediate results. This is not the case especially if you just started working out. My trainers in my current gym told me that the ideal weight loss is around 1 to 2 pounds a week.

This was actually one of the mistakes I did before. I expected dramatic results in just a week. A few pounds were shed but it wasn't what I expected. I wanted to see a bit of shape in my arms but to no avail, it didn't happen. Now, I've been working out for about a month and a half and I'm seeing great results from my training. My arms are more firm and shapely even with a shirt on. My chest muscles are bigger and I finally got rid of some of the fat. I still have a long way to go but I'm sure I'm on my way to having a healthy and good-looking body.

As for your expectations, it starts with realistic goals. You really won't get that firm muscles immediately. It will gradually get bigger in time and the fat won't go away in an instant. Your body will slowly burn that extra fat as you progress with your program.

Even if you're exercising consistently, if you do not eat properly, you'll most likely get disappointed because you won't achieve the results that you are expecting. Weight loss is achieved both by exercising and diet so if you fail on either one of these, you won't get good results. You'll just feel disappointed and probably get disheartened by the lack of results so set your mind straight and work for it.

One of my trainers back in early year 2000 told me that you should not expect to lose the weight you've gained over the years in just a matter of days. You really need to work hard for it and once you see actual and visible results, you'll feel accomplished.

A month after starting your workout, you will see results but do not expect too much. The results you've been expecting will come soon as long as you are consistent in your diet plan and workout. Do not weigh yourself everyday. Weight yourself once a week or twice a month. Use a tape measure and measure your waistline, legs, arms and chest. But always remember, I can't reiterate enough, the results will appear gradually. Patience, determination and motivation are the key.
