When My Father Just Left Me..

SAIKAT KUMAR DUTTA
1. When my father just left me forever...

I thought there was a devastating earthquake,

on the breast of the Earth, that has destroyed

many buildings, monuments and bloods,

But no ! I saw, all are running well,

Oh God ! Only my father is no more with me.

2. When my father just left me forever...

I thought there was a massive storm

on the breast of the Earth, that has destroyed

many crops, houses and hopes,

But no ! I saw, all are moving normally,

Oh God ! Only my mind is become stagnant sans him.

3. When my father just left me forever...

I thought there was a great volcanic eruption,

on the breast of the Earth, the magma of which

destroyed human and wild lives, soils and water bodies,

But no ! I saw, all are staying and flowing normally,

Oh God ! A fire ball is spinning only inside my lungs cavities.

4. When my father just left me forever...

I thought there was a detrimental change,

on the breast of the Earth, that has affected

Sun rising and sun set, rising of moon and other stars,

But no ! I saw, all are rising and setting regularly,

Oh God ! Only I am sunk inside the darkness for him.

5. When my father just left me forever...

I thought there was a harmful demon arrived

on the breast of the Earth, that has broken

many hearts, loves and passions,

But no ! I saw, all other hearts are beating normally,

Oh God ! Only my heart is broken for him into powders.

You expressed this so powerfully; I'm so sorry for your loss. No matter how old our parents get (and in turn, how old we get), we just never quite expect them to leave us. They were with us when we were born, and they should be with us 'til the end. I'm sure your father knew how much you loved him and how special he was to you.

Heart wrenching poem Saikat. I can certainly empathize with you as I have lost both my parents and it did feel like what you have described here. My sincere condolences to you for the loss of your father.
