You never know what a day will hold. Sometimes in the morning as the sun rises and I am on my knees in awe of the sun rising and wondering what the Lord has in store for me and my day, I will often say, "Bring it on, Lord…" but when he "brings" it, I find I am not always prepared to handle it alone. That was why God gave me a partner to walk this rugged road.
Yesterday was a difficult day and I was rushing to get out the door to an assignment. I walked down the steps to our basement and stepped into water. Water? Why, it wasn't even raining and nothing seemed to make sense even as I stepped on the carpet and heard "squish" then headed into the garage and saw more water.
Water, water everywhere!
I ran to check the gas furnace and there was water gushing out of a pipe off of our fairly new gas furnace. After placing a bucket under the pipe I ran to the phone and called the one person that I knew could help me…
I phoned the husband.
Psalm 130, "From the depths of despair, O Lord,
I call for your help.
Hear my cry, O Lord.
Pay attention to my prayer."
My guy is not easily ruffled even when his gal is spurting off non-sensible and frantic cries of "Help! Help me! Water, water everywhere …the furnace…flooded….I need you, please come home…I know you're busy…I don't know what I'm going to do…I need to leave the house…I have to..."
I don't know what he said but I heard, "Calm down, I'm on my way home…"
He came, he saw, he shut off the water.
You know, I never thought to do that. Sometimes you just need a man. At least I do. Now, I know why Lucy loved Desi but I wonder why Desi loved Lucy? We frantic types will rely on God for just about everything but when an emergency comes, we fall to our knees to pray and then, we call the husband!
After the husband left, I prayed again, "Thank you, Father, for the partner you have given to me to walk this rocky road of life."
I need him.

Post a CommentHope you had a wonderful camping trip.
Great story! We are supposed to have a beautiful day Friday and snow this weekend. Hubbies cannot fix the weather, but they are great at handling the emergencies like floods and changing light bulbs.:)
Wonderful story!
wonderful michele
well written - thank you
Excellent article as always. Thanks!
I have been very sick lately so I have not done much writing all this month.
Living alone for so long I had to learn to do most things other woman would not even consider. I have always been a "handy woman" so to speak with extreme shoulder pain. Now that my husband came into my life...no more shoulder pain! Thank you for this very sweet and refreshing article! Yes, each and every one of us needs to thank God for our husband whom he sent us in His all knowing love and caring grace! You are such a blessing to us Michele!!
Great tribute. In marriage, there are times that you need each other. It is good to be able to depend on each other's strength in Christ Jesus.
Wonderful article. :-0 :-) "Emotional Rescue" is my favorite song by the Rolling Stones...lol. We all need emotional rescue from time to time! ps I learned not to ever say "Bring it on"...a long time ago. I would be met with challenges I was not ready for. You are quite brave, my friend. Bless you and your family. I love your work!
