When Giving Up is Not an Option

Don't Give Up

Wendy Dawn
Right now it may seem like you have reached the end of your rope. The cliché thing to tell you is to tie a knot and hang on. The wise thing to tell you is to not let go of the fray, and pray for the strength to hang on.

When you are at your absolute weakest then God is able to demonstrate His strength in you. Allow Him to hold on to the frays, or better yet, if you can't hold on any longer, let go and fall into the His arms. He will not let you fall.

I will not argue that it is easier said than done, but I've tried it both ways, tying a knot and hanging on and letting go with nowhere to go if God didn't catch me. He caught me every time, and I learned along the way that letting go was a lot easier than straining to hang on.

I was only hanging on to the things that had pushed me to the end of the rope anyway. There came a time when I had to recognize that and let it all go.

Let it all go, even if it means starting over with the God. Do it regardless of your age. Your age really doesn't matter in God's scheme. He lives outside of the time constructs of man. The Bible says that one day is as a thousand years to God. Chronological age, the passage of time, is not relevant in God's dealings with man. He sees your potential, not how much time has passed or wasted, but how much there is left to do.

We are instructed by the Bible to forget those things that are behind us and press toward the mark of God's calling in our life. Drop the past, let it go, get over it, let go of the rope so that you can move on into the prosperous and creative life for which you were created and destined.

In the Bible, Jeremiah 29:11 offers an encouraging and guiding verse to help you realize that this is not the end, but only the beginning of the things God has in store. The plans He has for you are good, plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Your future is so bright with the guidance of God, there is no need to fear. There is no need to despair.

Today, you may feel like all hope is gone. It isn't. Don't allow that thought to hold you captive a minute longer. Through the power available in God you can cast down every evil thought and imagination. The weapons of your battle are not carnal, but spiritual and mighty through God. It is with His strength that you can pull down strongholds and put away thoughts that drag you toward ruin and destruction. (II Corinthians 10:4-5).

You are part of God's precious, glorious family. You have a future that is to be filled with purpose, a divine destiny that has been prepared just for you since He wove your being together in your mother's womb (Psalms 139:13).

Don't give up on God. It may just be time to give up on the circumstances that are holding you back from the rest of your divine and glorified life in Him. As you let go, trust and believe God. Your own thoughts may lead you astray.

Feel like giving up? Give it to God instead. This battle is the His. You are His precious child. Know that He is fighting for you.
