When Icy Claws of Darkness Grip

nutuba
There comes a time when every soul
Must face the talons of despair
The icy claws of darkness grip
Around the throat, they tear and rip
And drag the remnants to the lair.

And myriad give up too soon
Seduced by hollow shallow lies
"This life on earth is all you get" --
And men, weak rooted, soon do let
Deceit to fool their blinded eyes.

Beware the poison of man's pride
Hold fast to God through that bleak night
You know that joy comes not from wealth
And blissful peace ties not to health
Trust Him, Who is the One True Light.
