When You Are Left with Nothing but Problems Then Turn to the Write

Have you ever had one of those days, weeks, months, or even years where things just went from bad to worse without ever getting better in between? Well here is how to keep from picking something up and throwing it against the wall.

I can put it into one simple word, although I doubt Associated Content would let me stop with that. Write.

Simply pick up a pen and paper, turn on the computer, or, if you live in pre-historic times, your typewriter, and write. You do not have to have anything to even write about. Just sit down and put words on paper.

Write about your day. Write about what made your day good or bad. Write about what you need to do to make tomorrow better or keep it as good as today.

Write about your spouse, your child, other family members. Write about a neighbor, a child's school teacher, a co-worker, a boss, or anyone else you find interesting, mean, hateful, nice, friendly, helpful et cetera.

Here I am not talking about quality work to submit to a publisher. I am talking about just putting thoughts into words. But guess what, if someway, somehow, what you write turns out to be work that can be published, go for it. You might even find yourself earning some extra money just because you were frustrated and needed an outlet.

For me, writing gives me something else to think about than all my problems. And let me tell you, I have what seems like more in one day than most people have in a lifetime. However, when I am writing (like now) my mind must stay on what I am doing. I follow the words that I am putting on paper instead of following the thoughts in my head. When I put my thoughts and feelings on paper that is where I try my best to leave them.

What I found out when I first started writing was the fact that a lot of times I hated the first draft of something I would do. I would get so wrapped up in making it a printable article, poem, et cetera that for hours at a time I would not even think about anything else at all. And most of the time by the time I was finished my mind would be so tired but relaxed that I was able to not think about my problems anymore.

So you see, the next time you have the urge to hit something, break something, jump up and down and scream, take your frustration out on a piece of paper with a pen or, uh hum, typewriter or the keys and screen of a computer. Then if it is good enough submit it to Associated Content, sit back, and make some money with your problems.

It does work. At least for me it works. Hope it does for you!
