When Liberals Attack! the ACLU Vs. The Gideons

Victor Medina
The ACLU, who is always looking out for you, has found a new threat to our children: The Gideons!

This is the same ACLU that sued the city of Indianapolis in 2006 for passing a law requiring convicted child molesters to stay at least 1000 feet away from schools. It's also the same ACLU that defended the North American Man/Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) in a 2003 lawsuit brought by the parents of a 10-year-old molested and murdered by two men who visited the NAMBLA website and had the group's publications in their possession. Obviously, they have your child's best interests at heart.

Now, the ACLU is targeting the Gideons for having the audacity to pass out Bibles after school to kids who wanted one. Reportedly, in some cases, the Gideons passed out Bibles from a table they were allowed to set up inside the school after classes were done for the day. In the ACLU's twisted world, you can defend child molesters, but fight to the death to keep religious groups like the Gideons from handing out Bibles. The Gideons aren't even forcing kids to take the Bibles: taking one is totally voluntary. The ACLU is targeting the distribution of Bibles in schools in the Texas cities of Frisco, Marshall, Plano, Palestine, Abilene, and Wichita Falls. They are suing for records from these schools to find out when the Gideons were there and what they passed out. They promise to "get to the bottom" of their activities in schools. By intimidating the Gideons with lawsuits, they hope to end the practice of handing out Bibles in any public school.

So much for the "Free Marketplace of Ideas." I realize that allowing the Gideons to pass out Bibles means we should also allow access to atheists, Muslims, Mormons, and any other religious or non-religious group. That's the cost of pure freedom. The ACLU would probably agree, so long as Christians are not part of the equation.

We now have major discrimination against Christian beliefs in a country founded on those beliefs. It is amazing the pendulum has swung so far to the left.
