When Liberals Attack: The War on Easter

Progressives Consider "Easter" Too Religious

Victor Medina
Liberals have decided it isn't enough to erase the true meaning of Christmas from public life. Now they are after Easter.

Across the country, the word "Easter" is tagged as a religious (especially Christian) term, and for some, that cannot be allowed. Under the premise of political correctness, "Easter" is being replaced with "Spring," because some people are deeply offended by even the slightest reminder of the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Lori Ziganto of RedState.com reported that in her hometown of Leonia, New Jersey, the annual Easter egg hunt was renamed "Spring Celebration, With Bunny." After some complaints, it was changed to "Spring Egg Extravaganza." That's New Jersey for you. They give us "Jersey Shore," and now the "Spring Egg Extravaganza."

A school in Seattle, however, was not to be outdone. According to a story on MyNorthwest.com, a Seattle high school student identified only as "Jessica" volunteered over spring break in a local elementary school as part of a service project. Jessica wanted to give the students Easter eggs as a gift to the kids, but was told by the teacher she could only do so if she called them "Spring Spheres." The term did not go over well with the students, who proceeded to call them Easter Eggs anyway when they received them.

In New York, the annual Easter Parade was crashed by gay activists from the group Queer Rising who protested outside of St. Patrick's Cathedral to protest the church's support of a ban on gay marriage and stance that the homosexual lifestyle is considered a sin by the Bible.

Such actions should remind us all of the words of Jesus that he uttered on the cross: "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."
