When My Life is Not Mine

mimpi
She left her home in her best dress
Keeping the keys and docs orderly
Sticking a note where to find what
Sipped her favorite strawberry shake
Wore the floral skirt, her favorite
The slippers, she bought recently, the best of the lot
Sprayed the English lavender, her signature spray
She wanted to look good, smell good till forever
Kissed her parents
Smiled at her granny's photo
Cuddled the puppy who licked her as always
He looked with the most honest eyes
Only to get an unsure look
She could still see her mom waving
She sighed, closed her eyes
Thanked all, friends, sisters, family
Close ones and not so close ones

Who knows this could be
The last day on earth
The last day in her life
Who knows she might lose it to a fanatic

India is hit yet again and this time the capital city itself. This is gross, grotesque, condemnable outright. The heinous intimidation must be stopped; we will have to brave it out. Let's get our message loud and clear. We are not going to take this anymore. So join hands and let them feel sorry.

What a warning for all. Only God knows what the future may hold . . . today or any day. Still, we proceed along our daily way, often oblivious to what may befall.

It is true that in this violent world, no one is promised tomorrow, so we have to make the most of each day, and pray to God for protection. Wonderful writing! Thank you...

Living in Lahore, I can really relate. People have bombed train tracks, bus stops and crowded market places where I shop. Security is lax, and any car or delivery truck could be a ticking time bomb. Even at only 25, I'm drafting what I'd to happen at my funeral in case one of these fanatics takes me out with them. They are causing normal people to live in fear, and failing to accomplish any of their goals. Unless of course, their primary goal is to spread fear and instability.
