When Lifes' Hurt and Pain, Trials and Tribulations, Sickness and Death Tends to Get Your Down Turn to "JESUS". There is No Greater Friend
"What a Friend We Have in JESUS"
This morning after I prayed and had one of my daily talks with God, I watched a movie regarding friends. I reflected back on my life and thought of those individuals other than my mother who had come into my life that I considered friends. I then began to realize that all of the individuals I had classified and defined as friends were simply 'acquaintances.'
In fact, I can only think of one person who has come into my earthly life that has been a true friend. And even then, when I needed someone to talk to the most, at times, she was not there. When she could be there and was aware of my need, I could call on her. But even then, she has limits and those limits are based on human limitations.
At the time when I reflect on life trials, life hurts, the pain of an ill child, the pain of low self esteem; when I reflect on the trials, hurt and pains of life, I remember only one person I have ever met during my fifty-seven years I can truly define as a friend.
I remember when I felt the lowest in my life, I was sitting in my living room thinking of how my heart was hurting. At that time, I remember thinking of how it is quite easy for someone to feel hurt and pain so intensely, they can very easily consider suicide.
At that point in my life, I remember the Lord speaking to me. I remember a vivid voice saying to me, 'There is no one on this earth more important than God. There is no reason on this earth for you to consider taking your life other than in total and complete submission to God. There is no one more important to you than Me and what I have planned for your life. I am here your every waking and sleeping moment. All you have to do is ask me to ease the pain. Ask me to ease the hurt. All you have to do is ask me and I will be there and I will take all the pain away. '
It was that day that I began to realize that all I have to do is ask my 'Father' God and He will be there. He is always there, waiting for His children to just ask Him to be a friend.
Take a moment and reflect on the story of the prodigal son. It's a reminder of a father and his undying love for his wayward son. The father longs for his son to return home. The son has taken all of his riches and gone off into another land. In that land, he loses everything. He begins to reflect on his life with his father. He then returns home and is intent on begging his father to take him back. He has prepared his request and how it will be spoken, the exact words he will use to submit his request to his father. But, his father has been waiting for his son's return. He longs for him to come home so he can shower him with his love.
As the son is seen returning, before he can even get his first word out, he is showered with emotions of love. His father is overjoyed that his son has returned. In other words, the father is so jubilant at the return of his wayward son, he begins to celebrate. (Luke 15:11-32)
Jesus is our Father, our Savior, our Friend. He is there, waiting for us to return to Him. No matter what condition shape or state we are in, He is ready with outstretched arms ready to hold on to us and take us back in. When we need someone to talk to, say the name 'Jesus.' He is there. You don't have to pick up a phone, you don't have to email, you don't have to text Him. He is right beside you, surrounding you, shielding you, protecting you and waiting for you to call on and return to Him.
When the trials of life get you down, when you feel the burden is too heavy for you to bear, when you feel like no one cares or no one will listen, turn to, talk to even cry on the shoulder of Jesus. He is waiting with outstretched arms for you, His child, to return home. He is a friend like no other. All you have to do is call His name and He is there. He hears your cries and wants to wipe all the tears away.
God's promise to be a 'Friend' is written in His word in the entire word, yet, reflect on this verse regarding His promise to be a Friend in our time of need: "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed for; for I am God: I will strengthen thee: Yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." Isaiah 41:10.
Today's Prayer: "Heavenly Father, I love You. I praise Your Holy Name. Father You are my sword, my shelter and my shield. I know when the trials of life come on me, I can call on and only You. You will always be there. Heavenly Father guide me in Your will so my walk, my talk, my every thought will be in accordance with Your Will. May I be a soldier of Your Word and with each word out of my mouth, I draw souls to You. I love You Lord. In the powerful precious name of Your Son Jesus I pray, Amen!"
Sometimes the world is not privileged to hear voices so sweet sing some of the world's best gospel songs. We only hear the ones that are thought by others to be worthy of broadcasting across the country. Listen as this groups of ladies sing "What A Friend We Have In Jesus.." You will be blessed by the words and the melody!

wonderful article
Very good article, thanks!
Yes, Amen Malina. This is just so powerful and inspirational. He is always there, waiting for us to come to Him when the burden is too much. Yes, what a friend we have in Jesus...and what a friend I have in YOU! :-)
Is a simple truth that you share, Malina, yet so difficult for the lost world to comprehend. So they visit the councellors, pop the pills, and talk up the power of their depression. Yet Jesus waits, a strength that is forever, and that never fails, and needs no additives. Thank you, my dear, for bringing words of faith to us all.
