This story is true and to this day lays heavy on my heart and still makes me cry when I speak of it. I was a mother who worked two jobs Thinking that the material things in life is what made things right and I also had a husband who loved his drinking more then his family. My children were at grandmas most the time I worked , I wouldn't keep them with their dad only when he was sober and that wasn't often. Anyways Mothers like me think we know what is going on and never see the signs until it is to late, This is what happen with my daughter she was 15 started the whole hanging out with the girlfriends , movies, the mall & just walking around hanging out, So That is what I thought she was doing every time she left the house. See that is what we want to believe and of course we don't want to doubt our children. Well moms and dads please, please always check and double check, Know the parents, know the friends. Drop off and pick up is what I should have done. She started drinking and I never even knew about it till she stopped going to school, Skipping or going to school but coming back home when I went to work. Social services got involved and placed her into a foster treatment home, Nice people and we thought it was going well, for a while it was. Come to find out she was meeting old , bad friends while walking to school, smoking and being pressured into that wild life again, well I got the phone call that Angela might be coming to the house since the foster home was not to far from our home, I thought it was a visit coming by surprise but they said she had not come home from school and said she had ran away. well she did come home and we were going to talk with the social worker in the morning, They came over and placed her in secure locked her up for a weekend @ $115 a day that they had me pay. At least I knew she was safe and I could see her. Well my daughter Had a review coming up for new placement. They let her come home the first two weeks were great then I started seeing the old pattern again not as bad but she was sneaking out and then one night she didn't come home from school. Well they picked her up again and she was getting sick all the time. They did a pregnancy test and it was positive she was only 16. I wanted to scream, cry and my god the things that go through your mind. Well they put her in a home for pregnant teens to teach her how to care for a baby and stay in school it was about an hour and a half from where we lived. She would call me at night lonely but she said she was getting along with the girls and one had her baby already. I went on a visit and her room was all set up and the baby crib was in there she seemed so happy. Little did I know she was talking to the guy on line who had gotten her pregnant and he was planning to come get her. She called me the morning of and said she would call me that night after they went for ice cream. I waited and nothing... I finally called the home and there was no answer . In my mind I was thinking Oh they are still out. An hour had gone by and my phone rang... HELLO? this is Karen I'm calling to let you know your daughter ran away ...
I wanted to die right then and there. They said she told them she was feeling sick and was going to nap while they went for ice cream and when they came back she was gone. I got a phone call from her 7 months later at 4am. I had just got off work sat down to talk with some other parents in a forum about parents and missing children. I had posters, websites, missing children sites all looking for my daughter. When I answered the phone I didn't know who it was, the number was one I didn't know for one, She was crying,.. mama help me crying and trying to talk . I was so freaked out! My God where are you ? Where are you? Mama I'm bleeding mama. Honey please what is wrong? where are you? She said she thought she was having the baby something was wrong. I Told her honey where ever you are look find a street or building anything and call 911. Mama I feel like I have to push and the phone hung up. She called me back I said are you with someone she said yes I'm with this lady friend who is taking me to the hospital... I have to go mama I'm there I will call you. Where are you she told me Idaho. Click the phone hung up. I was freaking out crying not knowing what to do so I called the police and gave them The number I had on my caller ID and told them what was going on since she was reported missing and it had been seven months since anyone had heard from or seen my daughter. they told me they will call me. Well 2 hrs passed no call. finally I get a call from a Nebraska hospital. It was a nurse telling me yes your daughter is in labor and she tells us she is here on vacation with family but we need consent from you to do medical procedures, I said first she is a run away, they said we will call you back after we get a guard on her door and we have any news . So the police call me and tell me who the number was and it was that of a 33 year old man. The hospital calls and tells me that she had her baby girl but they could not save her , that she was still born at full term, My daughter called me crying and said mama she is dead my baby died. I told her I would be there Well it was the middle of a snow storm and the worst one we had ever seen I had to travel 1300 hundred miles, but I made it. Her daughter was born on Feb 2 she was a big baby almost 9lbs I saw her they took pictures it was the hospitals way of helping mothers get closure. This 33 year old man was the one you got her pregnant at age 16 he took her out of state traveled with her Knew she was missing because my daughter said they saw her posters and he made her toss the winter coat she had because it was the same one in the poster, he made her go to churches and beg for money for food and she said he made her do others things lying to get money for gas. he wouldn't let her use the phone and never took her to a doctor. I found out later that he was the driver that night he dropped her off in front of a USA vets hospital with no coat, just slippers, sweats and a shirt she was bleeding when she feel into the arms of a door guard, he left her there, they called an ambulance. they had to put 3 units of blood in her and she was very sick. NOTHING WAS DONE TO THIS MAN, he knew what he was doing. In the state of Nebraska the detective I spoke with told me it isn't illegal to marry at age 15. I puked I thought what a bunch of... you know the rest. Well I'm going to end here because I'm getting very emotional right now. All I have to say is never take your eye off what they do or who they are with. The signs are there we just don't see them because we are so wrapped up in this life. She now is married age 21 is doing well and has a son who just turned 1. It has been a struggle for her in life and a long road but she is slowing healing from lose of her baby who she named lily . Its been five years but she wont forget.
