When Should a Parent Spy on Their Child or Children

Now why do people spy on the children and how do they do it without getting caught? Here are a few reasons and ways to do just that.

The top reasons for spying on children include:

  1. Expect them of using drugs
  2. Expect them of running with a gang
  3. Expect them of smoking
  4. Expect them of skipping school
  5. Expect them of having sex or thinking about it
  6. Expect they may be thinking of running away from home
  7. Expect they may be thinking about trying to get married
  8. Expect their daughter of being pregnant or wanting to get pregnant
  9. Expect they are trying to help a friend do something illegal
  10. Expect them of something bad happening to them that they do not want to talk about

Here are some ways to not get caught.

1. Go through their things only when you are certain they are not going to walk in on you

2. Make absolutely certain to put everything back in it's exact spot or place

3. Make sure to ask someone at school to listen for your child to say anything out of the ordinary or to show peculiar actions

4. Have a friend's parents to do the same thing if your child is at their house

5. You can even have another sibling do the same thing if you can trust them not to tell their brother or sister

What do you say if you get caught?

  1. Never ever lie to your child. Tell them the honest truth. Sometimes this may actually get them to talk to you.
  2. If the child gets mad, let them work off the steam before you confront them about anything. Just make sure they do not do anything stupid or dangerous.

Other things to do when you are spying on your child include:

  1. Tell your spouse about it and make sure they are on the same page as you are. Always discuss everything with the other parent and they do agree with you. If they do not, do not go behind their back unless you think your child is in real danger. Tell your spouse that also.
  2. Do not try to force your spouse to help you spy.

Thus, spying on children is not always wrong if you think the child is in harms way.

Great list. I wouldn't hesitate to spy on my kids if I had any of these suspicions - even if I had to go to their colleges to do it!

Great job, I agree there are times when we need to spy to protect our children.

I agree, there are times when "spying" is justified. Nice job again!
