When You Plant a Seed

When You Plant a Seed

When planting a seed, what you reap is part from your work, sweat and tears, other is left to fate.

One can do their best, watch the seedling oh so careful.

Save it from the frost.

Nurture it, and feed it with rich soil and water.

Save it from the pests and animals.

Sometimes Mother Nature has a different idea of this seedling's fate.

One can watch their seedling grow into a beautiful blossom, only to have it swept away in a storm.

Sometimes there is warning of the impending storm, and the blossom can be saved.

At times it appears that all your work has been for naught,

and everything you worked so hard for will be gone in a blink.

Other times, taken by surprise,

the leaves once again turn green and little buds where flowers were once begin to appear again.

If one doesn't give up, that bloom once a tiny seed will change yet again and thrive,

cycles, work, time and care

Funny how similar a gardner's toil is to that of a parent, is it not?
