When Platforms Change

Now, it is “Voices.” What Are Our Choices?

David A. Reinstein, LCSW

When platforms change
Feet become uncertain
And stumble to remain secure;
Security is compromised in the re-arrange
By the little man at the controls
Hiding behind the corporate curtain
Who keeps on turning the screws
More and more.

When platforms change
Where we stand begins to shake
And what we knew can quickly fade;
At worse, it hurts
At best, it's strange
How much chaos is wrought by change
And how much harder it can become
To achieve making the grade.

Platforms are changed to garner more dollars
Not for an altruistic concern
Leaving many in their dust;
The writers are the masses
Wearing literate blue collars,
In every disruption
There is something to learn
And each one must do just what they must.

When platforms change
A large dose of angst is served
And is difficult to swallow;
To write or not to write
Here or to roam off on the wide web range
Whilst we remain unsettled and unnerved
And try to not, in the shock
And awe of things,
Lament, regret, complain,
Sob, sleep and wallow.

    I wonder if poetry will survive here? Will be interesting to discover whether or not they accept my next one.

    We are all in this state of flux together... once again you have described our current situation perfectly. Thanks!

    Perfect commentary on the current state of things!
    Still here for now, but also unsure. They've already reject a deeply philosophical poem as 'not good enough quality' so it makes me wonder if there are any poets on the screening staff. I may play more on W site than here. But glad to see you're sticking on in both places.
