When Pond Liners Are Not Worth the Expense

Marki E.
If we want a pond built these days by pond liner guys or any landscape contractor, we want it to last. We want our fish, our koi, or whatever beloved sea creatures we have to live in bliss and harmony in our man-made pond, where we can feed them and enjoy their company in the years to come. But since our ponds are man made, we assume that they should last a long time, since we paid top dollar for the pond in the first place.

But sadly there are some unscrupulous denizens out there, the pond liner guys or landscape contractors, who are looking to make a quick buck. They usually offer to install pond liners, their product of choice, to build the pond on. Barely a week passes then we sense something wrong with our pond that they have just completed. There is a leak somewhere, a problem but we don't know exactly what. So we call the pond liner guys who just installed the brand new pond liner. They say they have to take everything out to check for leaks.

They charge us nearly thirty percent of the original cost. They plug the hole, we are happy that the leak stops for awhile. Before we know it there is a problem again, and we have to call them again, rinse repeat. What a vicious cycle! Its' like throwing your money away, might as well tear up your money instead of giving it to the pond liner guys.

If this story is familiar to you, then you all know what I mean: pond liners don't work. Or at least they make it so the liner works, but only for awhile that you have to call them up again for repairs. It's how they make money off you, and has been their common practice for years and years.

The way out of the vicious cycle is to have a pond professionally made with concrete and steel, that way you don't have these rabid pond liner guys coming back to ask for more of your hard earned green backs. You don't want to be giving money away during these times of financial crisis.

Anyway, maybe, just don't set up a pond at all, save your money for a rainy day. That way you'll be free from any sort of pond liner guys, and those of the kind who like to sniff out your wallet.
