When Powerleveling in World of Warcraft Goes Bad

Powerleveling Isn't Always What It's Made Out to Be

Powerleveling in World of Warcraft (The act of leveling up your character as fast as humanly possible) can either be a blessing or a ruiner of the fun in World of Warcraft. A lot of players pick up the game because their friends are playing it, and then are outleveled by their friends because they haven't been playing as long. Here's what you should know before you decide to give it your best shot to catch up to powerlevelers while playing World of Warcraft.

First of all, if you've just made your first character - STOP! Don't Powerlevel. You paid 40 or 50 bucks for this game (and even more if you picked up the expansion) just to get it over and done with as fast as possible. if you're new to the game, let the game wrap itself around you for a little while. Get into the lore and the store as much as possible while you can. This is the point of video gaming right? To escape from reality. This is especially the case when playing a massively multiplayer role playing game like World of Warcraft. Trust me, the game won't always be fun. Instead of rushing through it like some players do, take some time to really enjoy the game.

Now, that being said, I know what a lot of you are thinking: "Yeah, but I can make my character more powerful and kill more things, then the game will really start to get fun." You're wrong. You might not know it yet, but there is a powerful emotion that goes through you when you bring a character all the way from level 1 to the maximum levelin in World of Warcraft. You feel proud. You feel accomplished, but you also feel sad that part of the game is now over with. You will NEVER get that experience again. Even if you level up another character, you've already done it. By the time you do this a few times, you're going to be sick of the game and start wondering why you invested so much time in it.If you've already leveled a few characters and want to just make a game out of leveling up fast, then that's fine. This is what I like to call "New Game Warcraft". These are players that are bored with the game in all honesty, but are changing the game from a roleplay experience to a speed competition. This is cool, but please, don't pressure your newbie friends into doing this. After all, what's the point of playing a "Role Playing Game" if you're not going to play the role?
