When to Send Flowers

Celebrate, Say Thank You and Say Thinking of You with Flowers

Barb Hacker
There are many reasons to send flowers to your wife, sister, mother, grandmother or friend. But, some occasions are especially right for flowers. Send flowers as a thank you, as a celebration and as a special thinking-of-you gift.

Send Flowers as a Thank You

Sending flowers is a nice thank-you gesture. If you've been a guest in someone's home, thank them with flowers. If someone has gone out of their way to help you with a personal matter, surprise them with a thank-you bouquet of flowers. If you are going to an event, order flowers for the hostess. Either have them delivered earlier in the day, or bring them with you.

Order Flowers for a Celebration

The reasons to celebrate are endless. Send flowers to celebrate a birthday, graduation, engagement, birth, new job or any number of other occasions. Flowers aren't always for adults, either. Celebrate the six-year-olds kindergarten graduation with a small bouquet of flowers or a granddaughters tenth birthday.

Send Flowers in Memory Of a Love One

For a funeral or wake, send flowers in honor of a loved one, friend or acquaintance that passed. But, be sure to check with the funeral home first. Some families would rather donations be given in remembrance of the deceased person's name, rather than flowers.

Flowers as Party Favors

Instead of sending flowers, use flowers as party favors. A little girl's birthday party could end on a lovely note with a single, pink carnation for each party attendee. Send wedding guests home with a beautiful, living flower as a favor, instead of a trinket.

Mother's Day

The most important time to remember to send flowers is on Mother's Day. A beautiful bouquet from a flower shop or a vibrant, hanging basket from a greenhouse both communicate the love and appreciation you have for one of the most important women in your life.

Send Flowers for No Reason

Receiving flowers out of the blue, for no particular reason, is fun and a nice surprise for any woman, whether young or old. Pick up the phone and order flowers for a special someone just because.

How to Choose Flowers

Some occasions, like anniversaries and engagements, call for roses. For birthdays, other celebrations, memorials and thank-you gifts, think outside the box. If you know the person's favorite flower, choose that. Sometimes, you will see a particular arrangement advertised in a magazine, like an FTD flower bouquet. If you have no idea where to start, ask the florist for a recommendation. Or simply order flowers by requesting a color theme or a long-lasting bouquet of the florist's choice.

Make someone's day and send flowers to say thank you, to celebrate, to express love or simply to say I'm thinking of you.

Just Because occasions are my favorite. And i love to get unique flowers that someone picked out just for me instead of the traditional rose. Wild flowers are my favorite.
