When is the Sun Coming Out in Southern California?

Lorraine Yapps Cohen
The people are here
Celebrating the Fourth
Coming in from afar
So the sun goes IN, of course!

The famous 'June Gloom' is upon us,
Except one thing is wrong:
June is over, it's July.
Why doesn't the weather move along?

Families and kids wait for the sun
To enjoy the beach, for frolic and fun.
But wet swim suits bring shivers,
Shaking and quivers.
No way this is any fun in the sun.

The surfers have it right.
They put wet suits on tight,
Cold water stays out,
Between suit and skin,
Insulation is what it's about.
Let the surfing begin.

So, when you come to the Coast,
Make your visit the most,
Get a suit and a board
(Ones you can afford)
So a stunning sunny vacation you can boast.

It's the only way......

Love this, we went to San Franciso and we froze our butts off in July. We could't believe it but the ocean never gets warm on the west coast we were told.

I don't mind the long winter - that means more skiing! Great poem, Lorraine!
