When Things Go Wrong

Today was one of them. Right from the morning when I stepped into have a shower and the power went off. That did not deter me. It happens a little too often here. Started to shave in the dark, and the moment the shave brush came near my face, I realise it's got the smell of mint. Now I do know that both the tubes of shaving cream and toothpaste are the same size. It is possible? They say soap is slippery, I most certainly agree. Once out of my hand and it was a skating on soap lesson before I found myself on all fours to retrieve it.

Monday's are not normally days i look forward to. Monday morning blues i guess. Today was meant to be different. There was an important meeting i had arranged, and had to make sure I reached there. All the enthusiasm was cut short when the phone rang as Ii got into the car. It was the Lawyer. I had to be in the court today.

After an extended drive, thanks to the traffic, I did manage to reach the court complex in time. What followed was quite an experience. As our case was called, I looked around and could not find our lawyer. He seemed to have done the disappearing act. I looked at the judge with a rather sheepish look, profusely apologizing and pleading for time. It was an important session today. I will not ever forget that glare I got from him followed by a stern warning that if due process was not followed the next time around, the case would be decided against us.

I came down in a fit of rage waiting to get my hands on the lawyer. Such was my preoccupation on wanting to get my hands on him, that it took me a few minutes to realise i had walked right out of the complex, forgetting that i had parked my car there. Maybe its age catching up with me.

While the afternoon was rather peace full, compared to what I had been through in the morning. It's only later I realised, thanks to my colleagues, that I had actually had a very generous helping at a dish that most of them found yucky. Taste buds not functioning?

Tea stains don't go that easily, and especially if they are on a light cream shirt. I learnt that the hard way today. Maybe I should not have used a paper cup. Why did the office assistant have to go in for an appendix operation today?

There was something troubling me as I reached home, there was somewhere I had to be today, but could not just place my finger on it. About an hour later I had the fluorescent light in my head on and burning brightly. It was a wedding of one of my subordinates in the office and he had pleaded with me to come. The feeling of guilt and only if I could twist my leg around and kick myself.

A little while ago, an assignment I was to send had the data all mixed up. A simple copy and paste mistake can really complicate a spreadsheet.

Well the day's over and as I sit reflecting on things, I just hope that this article come through all right. It's been a while since I wrote.

A hot tiring and dehydrating day it was. So what went wrong?

Blame it on the rain?
Got up on the wrong side of the Bed?

Went under a ladder? or saw a black cat?

Maybe it's the full Moon..
