When Time Has Time to Think

April Higney
A stillness in the day,

as though time,

had time to think,

waters quenching earthen beds,

giving time for blossoms to take a quiet drink.

A butterfly resting its flutter of wings,

on the petals of a lily.

A bird nesting along a tree limb,

whistling, she sings.

The breeze flow

barely moving the the fields of grass,

just enough, to entrance,

in dance,

slow,

as time,

so slowly seems to pass.

The colors,

blending gentle blue,

between the green shade of leaves.

Slight movement of the sun,

over the horizon above the tops of the trees.

A stillness in the day,

as though time

had time to think,

she raises the glass to her lips,

clear waters, quenching thirst,

as time grants a moment,

for blossoms to take a quiet drink.
