When TV Announcers Say: "This is the Moment You've All Been Waiting For..."

Really, is it the Moment We've All Been Waiting For?

Last night while watching "Sound of Music" on ABC Family, I saw a preview for one of my many shows that I love to watch. The Secret Life of the American Teenager; which airs on Monday nights at 8pm eastern time. During the preview they mention that there will be a moment in Monday, February 8th's episode that we the viewers have been waiting for. They then proceed to show us of the possibility of Ricky and Amy kissing.

Sorry, to disappoint the producers of Secret Life, but this is not the moment I've been waiting for! When Secret Life first aired I was turned off by it. Mostly because it is created by the people who brought us 7th Heaven. Don't get me wrong 7th Heaven was one of my most favorite shows, until it just got plain awful. Granted I continued to watch well into the 9th season.

How did I get roped into watching Secret Life, then? I was bored one night and decided to catch up by watching 8 hours worth of episodes in one sitting, online. The characters had a story to tell and I believe that if done right, they could impact a lot of young people. Have they done a good job?

That remains to be seen at this point. The writing is horrible, but the main idea is what keeps people coming back; at least that's why I keep coming back. That and the fact that I am secretly hoping that they will get some better writers!

But Ricky and Amy together is not something I want to see. Yes, I know he is the father of Amy's baby and I know he has been trying his hardest to make his life better. However, Amy deserves someone that doesn't cheat on girlfriends just for the heck of it. Which is what Ricky has done with his current girlfriend. If they do kiss, it will be just like before with him in cheating on Adrianne. Only this time it will blow up in everyone's face because now Adrianne and Amy are friends.

What about other shows that tell us that this moment in the clip of previews are the moments we have been waiting for? I believe that some moments are, but others like the one mentioned before are not. Who decides which moments are they ones worth waiting for? Do the viewers decide? Or the writers?

If it was the viewers choice it would be that there is a flash forward episode about 15 years down the road in which Amy is married to Ben. I say Ben because he has loved her since he saw her. Then again he just said the same thing to Grace. Anyway, through everything Amy and Ben will be that couple that everyone routes for. While it is always a good thing to have a family together. Some circumstances make it impossible.

However, it isn't the viewers choice and what may be a must see moment for one person may not be the moment they want to see at all. Happy watching!
