Yes, at some point in time you will experience some type of traumatic experience. But, this does not have to become the theme of your life. If you are centered you do not have to go into a counterproductive mode. For a season your hands may even be tied, rendering a sense of helplessness. You do not want to make life changing decisions while under distress. This will only further complicate your situation and take you further away from resolve. Prepare for change, life is a perpetual transition!
It may even get worse before it gets better. But, know it is only for a season, at some point it will get better! Therefore when the unexpected happens you must make a conscious goal to go through it! Not to stay in it! In order to do this you must learn how to depend on someone who is dependable. Although well meaning if you know someone buckles under distress or flies off the handle all the time. They may not be a viable source to help you through. Preferably someone who can be objective and knows how to go through a crisis.
God is totally dependable! God is a God of order. He can bring you through it and out of it! The one constant you can count on is God! Transitions help us become who we were meant to be. One might ask; where was God when this happened? He is just a prayer away! He is in the same place He was when He allowed His Son to be crucified and die on the cross for the sins of the world! Although He died, He arose with all power! It is because of Jesus we can always have hope when going through!
Planning in advance is great. But I know for a fact no matter how much you plan you cannot avoid the unexpected. There is always something waiting in the wings. Have you ever heard the saying; "You are either in a storm, coming out of a storm or headed into one ...." You do not have to live your life paranoid. Life is full of the unexpected, some by design and some by course. God has given us so many natural ways in which to see His beauty all around us! Look around and simply begin to enjoy the plethora of wonderful landscapes about you. They are reminders that life is so much bigger than us! God is able! Learn how to persevere, hold on during a crisis and turn to God! Learn how to invite God into the messiness. Here is the time to develop your spiritual muscles!
It is because of God's unfailing Love for us that we can count on Him and look to Him when the unexpected happens! He can turn it around! All His promises are true! God has promised to take us through everything! This is why it is so important to develop an ongoing relationship with Him! Knowing of God is not the same as knowing God personally! Start by building an intimate relationship while things are going well. This is the time to develop your healthy coping skills. It is important to learn how to become resilient! We can never totally prepare but we know that life and death are everyday occurrences for someone. This also helps us develop compassion.
Balance is key.
However in order to balance it out we must look on the bright side. You are still here! And there is more to come! As long as there is breath in our bodies we are living! The breath of life is a gift from God! Look around us God has given us the seasons to show us how things can change. Just think, it is so beautiful that after a long cold winter. A beautiful fresh spring comes forth bringing new life with it! Then a long hot summer comes welcoming a nice cool fall! "In this greatly rejoice , though now for a little while , if need be, you have been grieved with various trials, that the genuineness of your Faith, being more precious than gold that perishes, thought it is tested by fire, may be found to praise , honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoiced with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith ;the salvation of your souls."
Once we realize that we were meant to live life to please God it really makes all the difference in the world! When the unexpected happens, you really can make it! Remember, there is more in store! You can always count on His Word! God's Love lasts through eternity! When we have God we have everything we will ever need. Absolutely nothing gets by Him that comes our way! Everything is under His control and His promise to never leave or forsake us is so true! Remember I Peter 1:
"All flesh is as grass, And all glory of man
as the flower of the grass,
The grass withers
And its flowers falls away,
But the word of the Lord endures forever."
