When to Upgrade a Computer

People Are Always Asking when the Right Time Is. But the Right Time is Up to You

The digital entertainment industry is always bringing out new products and better, faster equipment to help computers advance. This field of the digital world is flourishing and there is always great demand for new, quality products.

As a PC gamer, I'm always checking out the latest news and finding out what's going to hit the shelves in the near future. I wish I didn't do this because there is a never-ending cycle of products becoming obsolete, upgraded and purely beaten in terms of hardware and specifications. Efficiency in the gaming world can mean having a computer that is good and up-to-date for only 2 months which can really force people to plan and think thoroughly about their next upgrading/purchasing choice.

As a general computer user, the choice to upgrade is still annoying. There are numerous applications that require specifics from the computer's hardware so having poor RAM memory, for one example, would make recent graphic programs run too slow.

So when should you make an upgrade then? Honestly, from all of the forums and threads, it seems there are always things to wait for. Next month there is always going to be something better than what you bought for the same price. Digital entertainment is a vast market and companies are continuously working on new computer parts.

So, if you find a great deal on something that would suit your computing needs, then buy it if it feels right for you. Chances are, your old computer had a great run which lasted longer than thought. For me, Crysis (a video game) is reason enough for me to make the upgrade jump into a far better PC which I'm sure will last months... hopefully. If there is something around the horizon that will really boost your computers performance then waiting is obviously the smart choice. But if you wait months, and your getting stressed, you will never stop waiting and hesitating to buy parts. Of course, money is an obvious issue when faced with computer parts so for some they have a nice balance. But if your getting bogged down by your old computer and desperate to buy a new one, don't hesitate and think what you buy now will be obsolete or weak. As long as it caters to your needs, which may be a 8800Ultra video card, you won't be utterly dissapointed from your purchase.

Good luck. Remember though, it could be smart to check what's around the horizon and if you can wait without pain or despair, maybe that new video card coming out is worth waiting for.
