America has lost it's way as a nation that could call itself a democracy. The historic tragedy that is called "operation freedom" where Iraqis are being killed in untold numbers, will go down in history as one of this nations most shameful moments. The Afghans are suffering just as much but under less scrutiny.
Why is all of this death and destruction allowed to continue? One reason is the media has lost it's way. The great watchdog that used to blow the whistle on government and corporate abuse was, before you knew it, bought by segments of corporate America. No news media owned by a major oil company is going to run the types of stories that would build public outrage and hopefully, action against what appears to be merciless killing and run away looting of a once oil rich sovereign nation.
Another problem standing in the way of Americans recognizing when the great table in Camelot has cracked is the tendency to reveer the office and ignore the man/woman occupying the office. We just will not, anymore, entertain the idea that a corrupt person has gained power!
The main reason, however, is the public. We are just to detached from other people's suffering and too pampered to have any concept of what is going on. Still, people must act, in the name of true freedom and democracy, or, at the very least, insist that the U.S. Constitution be honored.

Post a CommentGreat sentiments. Now, how do we get everyone off thier couches and into the streets? What will move the American people to take action? I've been asking myself these questions. If you have the answers let me know. Maybe we can institute a nation wide movement. If we can just pry middle America from their blessed couches.
