When Will You See a Baby Bump? - Showing During Pregnancy

Finding out that you are pregnant can be very exciting. Once you have found out that you are expecting a baby, you're likely to have plenty of questions. One of the things that you may wonder is when you will begin to see a baby bump. Here are some of the things that you should know about how long it will take for you to begin showing.

How Soon in Pregnancy Will You See a Baby Bump?

It is important to keep in mind that there is no set time for when you will notice a baby bump. According to BabyZone.com, the most common time for women to begin showing a pregnant belly is about three to four months into pregnancy. That said, it is important to keep in mind that it is perfectly naturally for you to not begin showing until the fifth month of pregnancy. There are many factors that determine how soon a baby bump will appear. For example, women who are not having their first baby are likely to show quicker.

Thin vs. Overweight Women: Who Shows Earliest in Pregnancy?

One of the main factors that determine when you will begin seeing a baby bump is what your body looked like when you first became pregnant. Generally, women who are overweight will not see their pregnant belly as early as women who are thin. What's even more important than being thin or overweight is where you carry your weight, however. Women who have a toned abdomen will begin to see a baby bump sooner than women who carry their weight in the stomach area.

What if I Feel Like I'm Showing Really Early in Pregnancy?

It is not likely that you will begin showing before three months. Having said that, it is important to note that you may seem feel as though you are showing, even though you are not. Many women will experience bloating fairly early in pregnancy. Your jeans might feel a little bit tighter, but you are unlikely to have a round pregnant belly just yet. To prevent bloating, make sure that you are following a well-balanced diet and drinking plenty of water.

Ultimately, the most important thing to keep in mind is that your baby bump will show whenever it is ready. As excited as you may be to see your pregnant belly, there is nothing that you can do to speed up the process. For most women, this will happen anywhere between three and four months, though it may happen during the fifth month.
