Where Have All the Children Gone? Poetry for the Soul of Tomorrow

Alfonso Coley
The beast rears it repulsive face,

And another day another innocent life

Is contaminated by Satan's spawn.

Not long ago

There was a time

When children could roam free

Without care or worry,

But the dawning of those years

Are long past gone from our guiltless lives.

There is a cancer in our society,

Can anyone heal this pain?

Can anyone magnify this injustice

Where a long time ago

Everything seemed so innocent and pure?

Or maybe it has been our imagination -

A fairytale of sort,

A twisted tale,

A dream gone mad,

Where the children only play

And be free in God's special place..,-

Somewhere where there is no pain

That appointed place of safety

A place of never-ending resolutions.

You hit this one right on the head... sadly.
