Where is the Body of Christ?

Karen Francis
I am posing the question...Where is the body of Christ? I am not asking this question because of the lack of churches in our communities and because hundreds of thousands of people don't attend or belong to these churches. I am asking this question because I see very little evidence that there is a Body of Christ.

The bible teaches us to love our neighbors as our own selves. It also teaches us to give to everyone that asks. Yes, the bible teaches us how to actually be the Body of Christ, but in my 20 years of being saved I see very little evidence of the Body's existence. Sure, I hear people praying and I see people serving in various ministries in the church building, but what about outside the 4 walls of the church, are we really operating as the Body of Christ?

There are many people that believe that as long as they attend church and they serve in a ministry that they are fulfilling the purpose of the Body of Christ. However, you must look at what Christ himself did for God's people. Christ prayed for people and Christ even raised people from the dead, but what did Christ do on a daily basis?

Christ loved God's creation in feeding them, encouraging them, housing them, clothing them. Christ said in His word if you've done it unto the least of them, then you have done it un to me. Christ visited the sick and those who were in jail.

When was the last time you took time to visit the sick and feed the hungry? When was the last time you paid someone's rent or mortgage out of your own pocket? When was time you purchased someone else groceries or paid someone's light or gas bill?

You see the Body of Christ is suppose to be Christ here in the earth. We tend to depend on the church organization to feed the hungry or pay someone's debts, but if we are truly the Body of Christ, we should be operating as such in doing these things and not just relying on the church organization to perform our responsibilities.

Beloved, loving others cost us something. You can't love without giving up something and sometimes that means we have to give our time, our money and our resources for the good of someone else and that especially means people you don't even know.

For God so LOVED the world that He gave His only Begotten Son and while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. If God would give us such a wonderful gift, then why not help someone in need today and watch and see if God will not pour you out blessings, so much that you won't be able to receive them.

Again, I ask, Where is the Body of Christ?

Good observation Rebecca. However, I am not talking about Christians making noise or posting a billboard in order to do good and serve their community. I am talking about them simply doing it. I have seen the church organizations feeding the hungry and housing or clothing the homeless and that's fine because I believe that it is one of the churches charges, but I am talking about individuals that can help and they don't help. In particular christians, because if we're going to profess Christ, then we are to be Christ like and do the same things that Christ did. So, it's not so much about christians in the media. My questions is specifically directed towards the Body of Christ in general.

Good question, Karen. I think there still are many dedicated caring Christians working hard to serve God in their communities and around the world. Unfortunately, there are professed Christians who are so ego-driven or heavenly minded, they end up being no earthly good. These are usually the ones catching the public's eye and drawing media attention to themselves. I think God's true servants are still humbly out and about doing the Lord's work, often anonymously, avoiding undue attention to themselves in the belief that credit for their works belongs to Christ.
