When decorating your new home or remodeling an old, nothing says class like a ceiling medallion. They come in all shapes and sizes as well as different finishes. Here are a few good places to purchase this wonderful home accent.

Internet purchasing options for ceiling medallions.

1) Go Ceiling Medallion: This site was very easy to navigate and by far had the most selection of anywhere I checked. They have medallions of two basic types, plaster or a polyurethane blend. Their ceiling medallions are also available in plain white and factory finish. Overall, for selection this website was the best.

2) Ceilings USA: I enjoyed this site because their prices insured that even the tightest budget could purchase an elegant ceiling medallion. Their price ranged from twenty dollars to over two-hundred dollars. They also had a unique product that I did not find on the previous site and that was two-piece medallions, these are easier to install since you do not have to remove pre-existing fixtures. One word of caution with this site some times the price listed on the home page is different from the price on the description. I noticed that a few were higher and one or two were lower.

3) Renovators Supply: This had to be my favorite website although I have to admit it was not just the medallions that caught my eye, nevertheless they had a wonderful selection and a well laid out website. Their ceiling medallions were mostly white urethane foam. Renovators supply also had a very competitive price point on their products. The range was from twenty-six to around one hundred dollars.

Brick and mortar stores that carry or can order ceiling medallions.

If you are anything like me the internet, ordering option is not the same as the hands on experience you get from shopping at traditional stores. I had initially checked Home Depot online for ceiling medallions with no luck. However, on further inspection at my local store I found they do carry them and are far cheaper than the websites I was looking at. I soon discovered the reason was material. All of the medallions were made of injected plastic. Here is where personal preference and use come into play. If I were remodeling my own home I would prefer a sturdier construction that would add value to my home as the years went by, however if I were revamping a rental or home that was to be resold quickly I might be more inclined to go with the cheaper product. Home Depots price range was a modest seven dollars up to forty-nine ninety-nine. These are definitely a good choice for an extremely tight budget.

I also found while checking that in my area one of our hardware stores was able to order the product from a vendor. While this is not as rewarding as being able to look at and handle the product you do have the added protection that if it comes in and is unsatisfactory you will not have to buy it, saving the hassle of returns through the mail and waiting on a refund from someone you have never seen.

Great research. Thanks for doing the leg work, or is it ceiling work?
