Buy Cheap Gas at Price Hill and Finneytown

Cincinnati, Ohio is acknowledged as the first "American" city in the United States. Meaning, the settlement on the banks of the Ohio River represents the first major post away from the Eastern Seaboard and the influence of Europe. Of course, nothing is more American than buying gas and hitting the road.

Today, Cincinnati gas prices average $2.549 per gallon and are one shade beneath the U.S. Department of Energy national reading of $2.4647 for the week of August 10, 2009. The Cincinnati gasoline market does benefit per its relatively close proximity to enormous oil refining capacity in Kentucky, Lima, and Toledo.

Per the regional level, gas prices are set by municipal tax policy, access to highway infrastructure, and the cost of doing business within well-heeled commercial locales.

Residents of most border cities typically reap the benefits from crossing over into another municipality that is relatively lightly taxed for consumption. However, Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky feature similar tax policy, which does not make any commute outside of the Ohio borders worthwhile for purchasing gasoline.

Cincy drivers must grin and bear it, and learn to play the angles north of the Ohio River to buy cheap gas.

The purpose of this guide is clear. Our intent is to analyze the cheap gas proposal from both ends of the spectrum. We will begin by exposing the most expensive areas of Cincinnati to buy gasoline, and close with viable alternatives to said locations.

Drivers must operate from the obvious mindset that gasoline prices will fluctuate wildly. Still, this article must highlight the fact that the word "cheap" is a relative term. Today's quotes and cheap prices will translate into fare that is "cheap" and less expensive than the next guy well into the future.

Demographic patterns, traffic counts, and tax policy are key factors that will remain stable and effectively maintain the pertinent pockets of cheap gas over time.

Where NOT to Buy Gas in Cincinnati

Sometimes, saving money on gas is more so a function of dismissing the high priced zones and potential for being gouged at the pump, than it is of anything else. Per Greater Cincinnati, Ohioans and Kentucky drivers must shun the gas stations that abut the Ohio River crossings in Covington and downtown Cincinnati.

High priced gasoline begins at Clifton and the University of Cincinnati hills overlooking the city, before descending into the Ohio River Valley and Covington, KY. $2.65 is the price target per the Ohio side of the River, while Covington slaps motorists with $2.75 at the Ohio River approaches.

For example, Shell posts up at 205 Calhoun Street in Cincinnati to flash $2.65 for regular gasoline, while Speedway / BP / Shell cluster of gas stations patrols 4th and 5th streets with $2.75.

Cincinnati drivers must span I-75 and The CSX yard per the Western Hills Viaduct for cheaper gas. Beyond the vibrancy of CUF, downtown, and the abject poverty of the Over-The-Rhine slum, the Cincinnati "feel" is more so industrial and working class west of 75 and the rail yards.

Signage off 75 will read "Harrison Avenue." However, Cincy consumers will navigate onto Queen City Avenue, where BP and Mobil hawk gas for $2.53.

Kentucky drivers will discover that gas prices fall somewhat into Bellevue along the riverfront. BP mans its location at 30 Donnermeyer Drive, with $2.69 fare. This alternative to Covington does provide access to I-471 and downtown Cincinnati per the interchange at KY 8 - Fairfield Avenue.

Cheap gas is for sale at Finneytown, Ohio and Route 50 - River Road into Sedamsville, Price Hill, and Delhi Hills. Prices will hug the $2.50 price point at all of these enclaves, which is cheap per Cincinnati standards.

Downtown drivers will cruise Route 50 West - River Road to Delhi Avenue for cheap gas. The Speedway at 2857 River Road, prior to the Delhi entrance hawks cheap gas for $2.52. Meanwhile, clusters of service stations line Deli Avenue immediately outside of the Cincy limits to pitch $2.51 fare.

To the north, the pocket of land between 74, 75, and Ohio 126 - Cross County Highway is a haven for cheap gas. Winton Road is the Main north-south Drag into Finneytown and is lined with fierce competitors moving cut-rate gasoline commodity.

The Speedway at the Winton Road - Cross County junction marks the most convenient location for cheap gas in Greater Cincinnati and flashes $2.49. Big Oil BP and Mobil patrol Winton Road and North Bend further to the south to match this $2.49 price floor.

Happy Trails.
