Usually you will find prices are significantly lower online than at your local computer builder's store. However, once you factor in shipping costs, the savings will usually be negated.

Many of these sites have daily or weekly specials, offer significant mail in rebates, and have special deals on open box items and refurbished products. If you look long enough, you are sure to find a good deal on what you need.

Another place online for your computer needs is Ebay. Ebay has numerous retailers that only sell computer products and they even have retailers that specialize in barebone kits. However, support for products bought on Ebay may be lacking and you must determine on your own if the retailer is reputable and honest. However, many great deals can be found on Ebay every day, so don't forget to at least take a look when you begin shopping for your computer components.
