Where to Buy Pokemon Cards for Less in Hawaii

Malama
Pokemon has continued to be popular in Hawaii for the last 10 years. Last year I started a "pokemon reward program" with my son for every reading award that he received. After he received his first award, he then read as many books as he could to get as many Pokemon cards as possible. My son is now a collector with over 200 at age 7.

Whether you are a trader, collector or have a child who, you are well aware of the cost involved in this hobby. A small set which has only 10 cards, can cost up to $7 depending on where you shop. They also have playing decks and other sets that can range from $6-$80. As with any product you purchase, everyone always wants to get something for less.

After shopping around, I found a few places that have the lowest prices.

"Toys & Joys" located in Kaimuki at 3632 Waialae Avenue and in Aiea at the Westridge Shopping center, definitely has great prices. Their 10pack booster sets range from $2.95-3.95. Can you imagine that I was paying $5.95 for 10 cards at a local store near our home when we first started buying cards? You can visit one of their stores or shop online at http://www.toysnjoys.com/pokemon.html. They have many boosters, decks, and other sets online as well as other pokemon merchandise. Also, if you are looking for Yugioh cards or other toys and gifts, they have a wide variety of products.

You can also find inexpensive cards at the Hawaii "swapmeets". There are two major swap meets in Hawaii; the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet and the Kam Swap Meet.

The Aloha Stadium Swap Meet is located in the parking lot surrounding the Aloha Stadium. The entrance fee is $1.00 per person. Admission for children who are 11 years of age is free. Kam Swap Meet is located on Kaonohi St. in Aiea. Entrance to the swap meet is .50 cents per person.

So far, the cards at the Kam Swap meet are the most inexpensive. I took my son their last weekend and bought him a deck of Pokemon Cards for only $2.00. At the swap meet, there are many different vendors who sell the cards. You have to walk around and shop the vendors at the swap meets before purchasing the cards to ensure that you pay the lowest price for the cards that you want.

Whether you are just starting out or are an avid collector, being a smart shopper can save you a lot of money in this hobby. Shop around, and your wallet will thank you.
