Prince William and Kate Middleton China, Coins, and Pillboxes Are Available

The upcoming April royal wedding of Prince William & Kate Middleton has anglophiles, royalty lovers, and just about everyone excited. Many people would like a souvenir, memento, or keepsake of the wedding. Where can you buy royal wedding souvenirs?

The Royal Collection - William, Kate Approved

The Royal Collection has released an official china plate, tankard (think of a fancy mug) and a pillbox to commemorate the royal wedding. These designs have been approved by Prince William and Kate Middleton. Proceeds go to the Royal Collection Trust, which preserves royal treasures.

The plate sells for 40 pounds ($62 at the time of publication), the tankard 35 pounds ($54), and the pillbox 25 pounds ($39). Each item is made of English bone china and features an entwined "C" (for Catherine, as Kate now prefers) and "W." The coronet of Prince William, the wedding date, along with doves, hearts and ribbons figure in the design as well, with 22-carat gold accents.

The Royal Mint - Queen Elizabeth Approved

If you'd prefer a commemorative coin to celebrate the wedding of Prince William & Kate, The Royal Mint is your best choice. They offer a variety of 5-pound coins, ranging in price from 10 pounds ($16) for a nickel coin to 1550 pounds ($2404) for a gold proof coin.

Although Queen Elizabeth approved the coins' design, there has been widespread discussion of the images of Prince William and Kate Middleton. William appears recognizable, but to many, Kate does not. A profile of Queen Elizabeth appears on the other side.

Stay Official

As the royal wedding approaches, no doubt many more William-Kate souvenirs will pop up, from tea towels to postcards. If authenticity is important to you, you will probably want to go through an official supplier for your royal wedding souvenir.

I speak from experience. When Prince William's father Prince Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles, I wanted a souvenir and bought some postcards of the couple on Ebay. Although these were billed as "official," once I got them I was disappointed to see that they were simply a color copy of a photo someone had made on their home printer. Buying through an official source will ensure that your Prince William & Kate royal wedding souvenir is authentic.

Bought two mugs from Zazzle. The designs are actually better than the official ones.

It's hard enough to plan a wedding, let alone have to pick out souvenir designs too! Interesting article.
