If you are planning a visit to Seaside, Oregon this summer you are in for a treat. Not only does Seaside have plenty of fun family activities on their main thoroughfare, Broadway Street, it also boasts a beautiful sandy beach with plenty of space for kite flying, skim boarding, volleyball, or just relaxing.

One of the best parts of visiting the beach is the saltwater taffy. What better way to enjoy and remember your vacation to Seaside than by picking up a little salt water taffy to enjoy. Seaside has many shops that sell salt water taffy, so you shouldn't have a problem finding a place to satisfy your sweet tooth. However, different candy shops have different benefits.

Here are just a few of the places you might want to visit in your search for saltwater taffy in Seaside, Oregon.

Phillips Candy Kitchen

Phillips Candy Kitchen, located at 217 Broadway, may not have the biggest selection of salt water taffy, but they do offer one thing none of the other candy stores can: Fresh salt water taffy made on location. This might come as a surprise, but all the other candy stores in Seaside get their salt water taffy from companies located in big cities miles from the beach. Phillips makes their taffy right in their shop and if you stop by at the right time, you can even see the taffy pulling machine at work.

Phillips Candy Kitchen sells approximately ten flavors of taffy, some of which include cinnamon, brown sugar, licorice, strawberry, orange, lime, vanilla, butter, peanut butter and chocolate and plain chocolate. They have small, medium and large bags of assorted taffy ready to go, or you can ask them to make a special mix for you.

Phillips also as a nice variety of other candy including fudge, caramel corn and various novelty candies.

The Seaside Candyman

If it's variety you want, you won't be disappointed with The Seaside Candyman at 21 North Columbia Street, right off of Broadway. The Candyman isn't hard to miss: just follow the sound of the tune, "Candyman" which plays from speakers in back of the store all day long. If you still can't find Seaside Candyman, stand at the corner or Broadway and North Columbia and watch for a guy who sings "Candyman" while handing out samples of taffy.

Seaside Candyman boasts 170 different flavors of taffy, more than any other candy store in Seaside. If taffy flavors like Oreo, Crème de Menthe, gingerbread and pink lemonade sound exciting to you, stop in the Candyman to pick your own eclectic mix of taffy.

The Seaside Candyman's corner taffy pushers and its continuous playing of "Candyman," make it probably the most gimmicky shop in Seaside and their gimmicks don't stop there. When you come into the store, you have the opportunity to spin a large wheel to win free prizes. No one goes away with out a free piece of taffy, and remarkably, the line is usually quite long for a chance at the wheel.

While you wait in line, you can check out The Candyman's selection of ice cream, fudge, Jelly Bellies, candy sticks and much more.

Rascals

Rascals is located at 320 Broadway Street and offers a medium sized selection of taffy in their novelty store. At Rascals, you can pick your own mix of taffy and pick up a souvenir t-shirt at the same time.
