St. Patrick's Day
Neighborhood: local bars
We always find ways to make our holiday's fun and exciting with parties and drinking and family get togethers. Holiday's like the fourth of July and Labor Day are times to come together and enjoy each other's company. However, one day stands out among all other as far as excitement and partying go. This is most definitely the case in the sleepy Puerto Rican town of Rincon. This is a town known for celebrating to great extents and the local bars and merchants do a great job making it a great party time.

The first place you have to go to is the Casa Verde bar located in Puntas and just minutes from the beach. A unique bar that offers any patron a free beer for a broken surfboard, they always make sure to celebrate St. Patrick's Day right. It begins with a DJ mixing tunes by local reggaeton starts and hot salsa beats, and the nice open-air portion of the bar allows for some fun dancing and partying. Be sure to try their green rum punch, it's the stuff of legend. Just don't ask them how they made it green. It's a secret that will go to the grave of the bartenders. Beers with green labels are a dollar, and Irish car bombs are only 4 bucks. Make a point to head here before it gets crowded though, as it fills up fast.

Just down the street from Casa Verde is the world famous Tamboo bar. They bring in St. Patrick's Day with a night of salsa dancing to a great love salsa band that is open to any request one might have for your favorite salsa classics. Anyone dressed all in green can get Medallas (the local beer) for a dollar and any Irish liquor for half price. Located right on the beach, Tamboo offers great sunsets as well, so get there early and check it out before you start partying the night away. Make sure you try out their famous Gas Chamber mixed drink. I'm not going to tell you what's in it, but it will knock you socks off.

If you are looking for a more formal scene, then the Villa Cofresi on the way out of twon has a more upscale feel yet will still celebrate St. Patrick's Day right. Come and do karaoke and play pool for free while enjoying their Pirata drink out of fresh coconuts. For St. Patrick's Day, their restaurant offers deals on entrees and appetizers, and will give discounts on any imported beer from England or Ireland, those of which are usually pretty pricey. The rest of the drinks are a bit more expensive than the other places, but it's worth it. The hotel is a great place to stay if you are from out of town, and has reasonable rates and amenities.

Go and celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Rincon, Puerto Rico and you won't be disappointed. The townsfolk know how to party and dance and will celebrate until to sun comes up; or the next holiday, whichever comes first.
