Where to Have a Child's Birthday Party in Pennsylvania

Harrisburg, Hershey, and the Surrounding Area

Searching for a place to hold your child's birthday party? I know it can be a daunting task to find something fun, affordable, and convenient. I have spent many hours in preparation, searching for just the right place. Here are some great places you may not have even heard about.

Indian Echo Caverns (http://www.indianechocaverns.com), located in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania is one of our favorite places to visit with our children. Add in a fun birthday party and what's not to love? Tour the caverns (which are not only beautiful but full of education), play at the playground, enjoy the petting zoo, and eat at the pavilion. They have special birthday party packages, and the price is very affordable.

Lake Tobias Wildlife Park (http://www.laketobias.com) is another huge hit with our family every year. It is located in Halifax and relatively easy to get to. The entrance fee is almost unbelievable and the safari tour is a must for only a few dollars more. Here the children can get up close and personal with all kinds of animals and livestock. You can even feed and pet many of them. They also have a reptile building, several small playgrounds, and a petty zoo. Call them for information regarding group pricing, and remember to order lunch early (or better yet, pack it and bring it with you) as the concession stands get very busy.

Love horses? The Land of Little Horses (http://www.landoflittlehorses.com) fits your bill perfectly! Their birthday party packages come with just about every you'll need to throw your bash, and the it's well priced too. Along with races, displays, shows, and of course petting there are quite a bit of events for even more fun.

If your little on is into exploration, definitely look into the Whitaker Center (http://www.whitakercenter.org/). They are located in Harrisburg, so be prepared to pay for parking in the garage. They offer birthday party packages, and they include either tickets to IMAX or the Science Center. The rental hall pricing is very affordable and you have it for 4 hours. You provide the food and supplies, and you get discounted tickets for either the IMAX or the Science Center.

Those with a winter birthday, you may find it even more difficult to find a good place to party. Have you tried booking a party at your local YMCA (www.ymca.net)? Most of them offer very affordable packages for pool parties, and who doesn't love to swim in the winter? Now you too can have a pool party, even when its snowing outside!

An all year round option is Ski Roundtop (www.skiroundtop.com).. The pricing is moderate and there are quite a few winter, summer, fall, and spring options available. Have fun snow tubing, paint-balling, a ropes course, a mountain adventure and more. Each package price varies, so you do have flexibility. Its pretty centrally located in Lewisberry.

The Crayola Factory (www.crayolafactory.com) may be a little more of a drive (located in Easton), but I am sure well worth it. Not only do they have daily special events and programming, but they offer affordable birthday party packages too. There are several different options and packages available. They also work in conjunction with The National Canal museum if larger space is needed to rent. Call to reserve and let the kids have fun painting, drawing, creating and leave the mess behind.
