But in recent years, I've noticed that Christmas spirit has begun to diminish. People are becoming less and less jolly around this time of the year each year. There is no longer the big parades that you use to see, and the Santa's in the malls just don't seem to be as jolly.
So why is it that everyone is losing their spirit? I mean come on people, this year there was more decorations up for Hallowe'en than there has been for Christmas! How is that any good means of spirit?
Since there is such little spirit this year, I decided to try to take matters into my own hands. First, I started with my own house. This year I spent about three or four hours just setting up the decorations in the living room, to try and make an attempt at livening up everyone's Christmas spirit. Needless to say though, the spirit still isn't there, as I seem to be the only one that ever turns on the Christmas lights on the tree and everywhere else.
Maybe Christmas just isn't as jolly once you start to become older. As a little child, everyone seems to be happy, but maybe it's all one big act. Now that I'm older the adults don't seem to be nearly as thrilled about it. But the same also goes for the city. I've noticed that there are not any wreathes up on the light poles, even though there usually is. Maybe Christmas has become to commercialized for us all, thus resulting in less Christmas spirit.
It may have become more commercialized, but I for one know that I'm not going to be one that loses their spirit. I enjoy this time of the year to much, with all the happiness and laughter that it brings to everyone. Besides maybe I'm just over exagerating, and wishing for more Christmas spirit than as per usual, oh well. Maybe next year I'll be able to create more spirit than what there is right now, but in the long run, as long as everyone else is happy I'm happy. Besides the joy should be from giving gifts anyhow. Right?
