Where You Could Have Put Your Valentine

Robin Jessie-Green
If I were in my right mind

I would have told you exactly where you could have put your Valentine

But instead, your sweet talking went to my head

We got heated as we always do

I can't think straight when I'm close to you

One thing led

To another and another

I pretended to be your one and only lover

You convinced me the whole night through

I loved it and you knew

How could I not?

You are the only one who knows how to hit those spots

But the very words I've always hoped to hear

Will never be whispered as sweet nothings in my ear

See, you were only mine for a temporary time

Last night, February 13th you were my Valentine

But today, on Valentine's Day

You're celebrating with the one with whom you will always stay

If I were in my right mind

I would have told you exactly where you could have put your Valentine

Especially, since you are not here with me

Smelling the stench of sex, flowers, and chocolate candy

On this holiday, you're right where you ought to be

Because the true keeper of your heart is she.
