Where to Get Daily Free Meals for Seniors in Brooklyn, New York

MarDes
Many seniors use local pantries and soup kitchens to survive. The extra meal and food that they can get at local centers help tremendously because many of the senior citizens are on a budget which does not allow them to always have money for meals. Between housing and bills, very little is left for anything else. These soup kitchens that help seniors are a big help because even if it is just one meal a day that they are being served for free, it is a meal that they are saving money on.

Here are a few places in Brooklyn where you can go and get a free hot or cold meal. These locations serve food daily from Monday Through Friday.

Cypress Hills Senior Center, at 3208 Fulton St., serves lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 718-647-7539

Haber House, 3024 West 24th St., serves breakfast starting at 9 a.m. until noon, you can call for directions and other inquiries at 718-372-5775

Hope Gardens is a wonderful place because you can get two meals each day for the whole week, they serve Breakfast from 8AM to 9AM and lunch is also served here from 12 to 12:30, located at 195 Linden Street Brooklyn, NY 11221 718-455-1100

Jasa Bayview 9502 Seaview Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11236 serves lunch from 12pm to 2pm and there is also a Manhattan Beach location at 60 West End Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11235 which serves breakfast and lunch from 8AM to 11AM and 12PM to 1PM

Northside Center 179 North 6Th Street Brooklyn, NY 11211 serves lunch from 12Pm to 1PM, 718-387-2316

Shalom Center 483 Albany Street Brooklyn, NY 11203 serves lunch from 1PM to 2PM, 718-773-3270

St. Louis Center 230 Kingston Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11213 serves lunch 12PM to 1PM, 718-771-7945

United Senior Citizens Center of Sunset Park 475 53rd Street Brooklyn, NY 11220 serves lunch from 11AM to 1PM, 718-439-8646/7

You can pass this information along to an elderly you may know whether it be a neighbor or someone you might think would need it and appreciate the suggestion. You can even assist in getting them to any one of these senior centers closest to your location if that is possible because many elderly cannot travel on their own. These services are there to help those who are in need and cannot afford it. If you know an elderly who is in need of more assistance, ask them if they would be interested in participating in more programs, call 311 and find out how you can go about doing so to help the senior in need and see if they qualify.
