Looking for a good steak, with no frills, we'd send you to Rod's Homestead, located on the south side of town on Maricopa Avenue. Rod's is a Havasu favorite, rustic and nothing fancy, but great food. Its founder, Rod Enhelder, passed away a while ago, but the Homestead tradition continues.
If you go to the opposite side of town, to the north, you'll find the Golden Horseshoe. It is located in Desert Hills. They serve steak, chicken and seafood, and their meals are served with a salad bar. If you like to throw peanut shells on the floor, and graze at the salad bar while waiting for your steak, this will be your choice.
For a great hamburger my new favorite is the Turtle Grill at the Nautical Inn, on the Island. The price is right, and you can't beat the lake view. My only suggestion, ask them to leave off the pineapple garnish. It may look cute on the top of the bun (giving it that tropical look), but I'm not fond of pineapple juice getting on my bread. Aside from the garnish, it is an excellent burger.
Breakfast would have to be Makai's Cafe, located in the lower level of the Island Mall, adjacent to the London Bridge. They make delicious, fluffy omelets, and you can choose from a wide array of ingredients. I also like their breakfast burritos, yet most of the menu items are good.
I've only been to the Sugar Brook Bakery, located on Mesquite Ave., once, and I enjoyed my lunch. But, it was the atmosphere I really liked. Reminded me of the type of cozy eatery where the girls meet for a special luncheon. While I'm not versed on all they have to offer, I have friends and colleagues who rave about the food, declaring it is absolutely the best restaurant in town. I have been at catered events where Sugar Book provided the food, and it was excellent.
If you are looking for buffets, I can recommend two. One is the former China Buffet, located near the London Bridge Shopping Center. Had you asked me to recommend the restaurant a year ago, I wouldn't have. But we recently dined at the buffet, and I was surprised at how much it had improved. It may have new owners, it definitely has better food.
The second buffet is the Golden Corral, which is a chain restaurant. It is also located near the London Bridge Shopping Center, next to Indigo Joes Sports Bar. Golden Corral has a wide selection, and if you are looking for variety, heavy on an American flavor, this is the place.
There are other Lake Havasu City restaurants I would happily endorse, yet these should satisfy your hunger for now.
