The Boys and Girls Country of Houston Inc is taking donations now for those wishing to sponsor a child or an entire cottage for Christmas. You can also choose to provide filled stocking for Christmas morning. Boys and Girls Country was established in 1971 and is a not-for-profit charitable home for children. This is an organization that provides a family style safe and nurturing Christian home for child regardless of whether their families can afford to pay or not. The facility is located about 35 miles northwest of Houston. Up to 56 boys and 32 girls between the ages of 5 - 18 may be at Boys and Girls Country of Houston at any given time. They also support as many as 60 other children who have gone off to college, trade school, military or their first job. A Better Tripp Moving and Storage Company's and Winwood Presbyterian Church team up and participates annually in Operation Christmas Child. Since Operation Christmas Child came about in 1993 more than 39 million wrapped shoe boxes have been delivered to children in 120 different countries. Goodfellows is an organization that was created by the Houston Chronicle for the purpose of helping those less fortunate during the holiday season. The Bridge Over Troubled Waters Inc. is a non-profit organization whose main goal is to help people who are victims of domestic violence, assault and to help prevent community homeless situations. The Bridge helps women and children in the Texas area. Donate toys or money this Christmas season for ones that will appreciate it.
Christian Community Service Center is a non-profit organization that primarily serves the inner city Houston area. A group of 41 churches makes up this organization devoted to serving the poor, hunger, needy and disabled without judging them for their beliefs. The Jingle Bell Express program is part of the mission for bringing under privileged children Christmas presents each year. Assistance League Houston is really stepping up to help the less privileged of Houston. For the past 41 years Assistance League Houston has been helping the community by various projects. During the holiday season they take donations of blankets and coats and distribute them to those that would otherwise not have a coat or warm blanket.
