Wildlife Refuges
If you live near a national, regional, or local wildlife refuge, consider contacting the park's headquarters. These refuges contain rich habitats to attract a variety of wildlife. Many wildlife refuges run public educational programs designed to teach people about these beneficial habitats and resources, including photography classes. These programs may have very limited funds to purchase newer digital cameras. However, your old digital camera may be a perfect fit.
To find a national wildlife refuge near you, check out the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Services National Wildlife Refuge System website.
Local Nature Parks or Organizations
For people who enjoy living in a community with a parks and recreation district, check to see if the district has any nature parks. These smaller parks are a great way for people to get out and view local flora and fauna. Many nature parks have great educational programs, especially for children. Help them learn basic photography skills and to appreciate nature by donating your old digital camera.
This website has a great list of local parks based by state.
Audubon Society
If your town has a chapter of the National Audubon Society, then check out their educational programs! Some of these programs reach out to the community to help people learn about birds, including programs geared towards families and children.
Find a local Audubon chapter near you via this website. Click on the States, Centers, and Chapters orange heading.
Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts or Campfire
Many children's organizations such as scouting groups would welcome a digital camera donation. If you do not have children in a scouting group, you can easily find a troop in your area. See one of these websites:
Local School Photography Clubs
Finally, consider checking out local schools to see if they have photography clubs or beginning photography classes. Many students are not in a financial position to be able to afford a digital camera. Help them out by making a donation!

Post a CommentI never thought of this! Great idea.
What a good idea, especially if the camera is still perfectly good, but not quite good enough for what you want today.
