Photo cards are a wonderful, personal way to greet and keep in touch with friends and families during the holiday season. However, the expense of having quality photo cards made can put a dent in your already dwindling holiday budget. The following tips will show you the best places online to download holiday photo card templates, so that you can share homemade holiday cards that look great yet cost less.

Christmastime Clipart has templates and clipart to help you create not only your own holiday photo cards, but many more fun holiday items including newsletters, Santa letters, invitations, calendars and more. There are pages of holiday card templates, over a dozen of them being photo card templates, so chances are you will find one you like! Downloading is pretty simple, although you will be required to provide a credit card number. While there is a fee of $19.95 to download this software for a three-month subscription, there is a seven day free trial offer. If you cancel before the seven days is up, you will not be charged.

Want to make a holiday photo card that Grandma can stick anywhere she wants? Your favorite office sticky note folks at Post-it (click here) offer a free software download to use in conjunction with their specialty photo paper. The software includes a whopping 33 holiday photo card templates. You'll have choices ranging from Christmas and Hanukkah to New Year's and Kwanzaa. And you might find this software useful all year long, as it also includes over 50 occasion and invitation templates as well as over 30 different fun, creative projects. While this download is completely free, it's a big one - 254 MB. So you might want to let it download while you run out and pick up a pack of their photo paper!

Hewlett-Packard (aka HP) is probably most commonly known for making computers and other office hardware. But you might be pleasantly surprised to learn that they offer an abundance of templates for a multitude of printables. You can download a template for 4" x 8" contemporary holiday photo cards by clicking here. The only software required to use this program is Adobe Reader, and there is a link to download that for free on the site as well. The HP software is super easy to use. Simply choose a theme, upload a picture from your computer, add text, and print!

Photo Tidings offers some free holiday photo card templates, as well as several that you can purchase. These templates are available in zipped files, and work with Photoshop, so you'll need to have that software on your computer in order to use these. To view the free holiday (and general) photo cards that Photo Tidings offers, click here.

Now all you need to do is grab your clan and take a great picture!
