Where to Eat Lunch When Visiting Atlanta, Georgia
Satisfy Afternoon Hunger at Shout, Table 1280, or Urban Pl8
Shout(1197 Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta; Tel: (404) 846-2000)
Dark suits seated at a dozen tables were a sign Shout is the place for power lunches. The Midtown Atlanta restaurant, located in the Colony Square Building, drips with sophisticated cheer with splashes of red at every turn. A massive mosaic column made of broken ceramic dishes stands out in the main dining area and so do the vibrant glass vases shaped like elephant tusks as they line the seating area.
The extensive menu includes salads, pizzas, sandwiches, and poultry, beef, and seafood dishes. Monday through Friday at the sushi bar, patrons can enjoy $10 all you can eat sushi. Don't expect anything exotic but the sushi is high quality and satisfying. Sundays, patrons can enjoy all you can eat salad and pizza for $10 and Monday nights it's all you can eat tapas for $10. All day on Tuesday, enjoy half price on bottles of champagne and wine.
Shout is open daily and serves lunch and dinner Monday through Friday, dinner is served on Saturday and Sunday. Reservations recommended.
Table 1280 (The Woodruff Arts Center, 1280 Peachtree Street NE, Atlanta; Tel: (404) 733-4200)
Table 1280 serves up artful culinary masterpieces inspired by organizations calling The Woodruff Arts Center home, including the High Museum of Art and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Simplicity is beautiful at Table 1280. Décor is minimal and chic is king. The restaurant's back wall is a striking white with a strip of pale, pastel lights while the front of the restaurant is all glass and overlooks the courtyard.
The lunch selection reflects the restaurant's simplicity; it's not an extensive menu but has something to satisfy everyone's hunger. Standouts include the Grilled Salmon B.L.T. ($12) and Four Cheese Grilled Cheese ($9). The restaurant offers a "3 Martini Lunch" special, choose three items from a select menu to include a starter, entrée and dessert, for $14.
Lunch is served Tuesday through Friday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Table 1280 offers dinner Tuesday through Thursday 5 to 9:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday between 5 and 10:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, brunch is served between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Reservations recommended.
Urban Pl8(1082 Huff Road, Atlanta; Tel: (404) 367-0312)
Located in Atlanta's Design District, Urban Pl8 is a refreshing surprise. Décor is simple yet delightfully like a warehouse. Menus are attached to clipboards and servers are casual, yet friendly and professional. During my visit, the server wore a vintage Star Wars T-shirt and blue jeans.
Entrees are made with locally grown ingredients. For those following gluten-free or Paleo diets, Urban Pl8 can accommodate.
Lunch items are reasonably priced and include tasty options as the slightly spicy Lily's Nut Burger made with walnuts, cashews, brown rice and aged cheddar ($8) and Roasted Beet Salad with mixed greens, goat cheese and almonds (large for $10). Save room for dessert, specifically the Elledge made with Krispy Kreme doughnuts and vanilla ice cream ($6). During Saturday and Sunday brunches, $10 bottomless mimosas are served up. Menu selections change frequently and check the specials board for new items.
Urban Pl8 serves lunch Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 2:30 and dinner Wednesday through Saturday between 5:30 and 9:30 p.m. Brunch is offered Saturday and Sunday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Reservations recommended.

Yummy! If I only had a book tour heading to Atlanta right now! Maybe it would help if I would finish writing the book!
