Where to Find American Made Toys Online

Tashia M. Heath
This past year has been a nightmare for parents of young children. Every time you turn on the news you see another toy, bed or food recall. With the holiday season approaching my husband and I have decided to try to avoid toys made in other countries. Like many other parents I have encountered, we are extremely disappointed with Fisher Price and other major companies who potentially put our children's lives at risk to save a few dollars. Here I will list some websites that sell toys made exclusively in America.

Fat Brain Toys

www.fatbraintoys.com is a toy company aspiring to make children smarter. Their philosophy is smarter toys = smarter kids. Fat Brain Toys has over 250 different toys made in right here in the United States. To see the different American made toys available at Fat Brain Toys click here.

Sensory Edge

www.sensoryedge.com started out as a company suppling toys and activities for special needs children. Since 2003, Sensory Edge has grown from selling just over 100 toys to now carrying more than 2500 different types of toys. I like this website because it offers beautiful wooden infant and toddler toys and great wooden furniture. Click here for Sensory Edge's list of American made toys.

Turner Toys

Turner toys located online at www.TurnerToys.com, is a great provider of children's toys. Turner Toys has been in business for nearly 30 years and offers everything from furniture to large ride on rocking toys. To see Turner Toy's list of American made toys click here.

Step 2

Step 2, one of the worlds premier toy makers is one of the very few brand named companies to offer toys made exclusively in America. Although not all of Step 2's toys are made here they do have an extensive list of toys manufactured here in the United States. Located on the web at www.step2.com, you can view all of Step 2's American made toys by clicking here.

Gile Toys

Located on the web at www.giletoys.com, Gile toys is one of the few companies to carry plastic toys made in America. Gile toys also carries Hasbro games such as Hungry Hungry Hippo and many other toys made here in America. To visit their "Made in America" page click here.

Tag Toys

Tag Toys is a company who creates wooden toys right here in America. Tag Toys located on the web at www.tagtoys.com, is a unique company because every toy is built and made right here in the united states. Tag Toys carries a variety of toys for different age groups, including infants!

Holgate Toys

Holgate Toys manufactures wooden toys in America. Remember Mr.Roger's Neighborhood, and Trolly? Holgate Toys is the company who made Trolly (which you can buy for a mere 60 USD). Located online at www.HolgateToys.com, you can find an abundant amount of beautiful classic toys that are non toxic and meet high United States Standards.

Baby's Toy Emporium carries American made toys. We have dolls (some handmade), blocks, soft dough, felts, building sets and more. We also carry blankets and gifts for mom. We started Baby's Toy Emporium after we had our baby girl and wanted to share our findings with others.

Awesome article & to answer Alicia's question as to how some of the readers plan to shop this Christmas....I am specifically looking to buy American made toys this holiday. Why take any chances...especially with a baby or toddler (everything goes in their mouth)

I wanted to add that www.GatorTots.com carries American-made baby and toddler toys as well!

    Hi Tashia,

Thank you for listing our company (SensoryEdge) as a resource for American made toys and furniture. I would like to point out that the vast majority of Asian made toys that we carry are very good quality, safe, and competitively priced. We could fill up a small book debating the pros and cons of only buying American or boycotting China. Suffice to say that every country who manufacturers products meant for man or animal should be help responsible for their actions. I'd be interested to find out if your readers are going to buy American only, boycott Asian products, or buy less toys this holiday season.
