Lorenzo's Pizza in Philadelphia on South Street
Travelers searching for the best pizza in Philadelphia will likely notice signs and restaurant listings that read "Lorenzo & Son's Pizza" for this establishment. Many residents and frequent visitors simply refer to this small restaurant as "Lorenzo's", a name that has become quite familiar to people in the Tri-State area. Lorenzo's pizza is famous for the largest and most delicious slices of pizza you can find. The crust is very thin and the cheese is soft and gooey but the prices may not always be cheap. Your charge will depend on the toppings that you order but slices and large pies at Lorenzo's Pizza in Philadelphia are well worth their price.

The pie slices are so large that you may have to fold them over and eat these pizza favorites like a sandwich. Lorenzo's has been named as the best Pizza in Philadelphia by many residents, topping every other food restaurant in the city. Customers are not even bothered by the fact that no one can "eat-in" at Lorenzo's because there chairs are nonexistent. People are still willing to stand in lines that stretch down South Street, even for the chance to get just one slice of Lorenzo's famous pizza. I have purchased pizza from Lorenzo's on numerous occasions and have been 100% happy with their food.

Pagano's Pizzeria in Philadelphia near City Hall
If you are no where near Lorenzo's pizza, then Pagano's Pizzeria is the next best option in Center City Philadelphia. This pizza restaurant is located adjacent to its sister establishment, "Pagano's Market" on 7th and Market Street. However, you won't find Pagano's Pizzeria by shopping outside on Market Street. This restaurant is located indoors near the Septa and Patco transit centers on the bottom level of Philadelphia's Mellon Independence Center. Many local workers frequent Pagano's Pizzeria and have become to know some staff members at this restaurant.

I have visited Pagano's and can vouch for the reviews and recommendations naming it as a prime location to find the Best Pizza in Philadelphia. Pagano's Pizzeria also makes other delicious food including Stromboli and pasta dishes. However, their pizza can satisfy your craving for good food when shopping in Philadelphia. The pizza crust at Pagano's Pizzeria is thin and it's not difficult to realize that their pizza stands out from the crowd. They have their own special style, ingredients and cooking methods that bring out the best pizza Philadelphia has to offer.

City View Pizza in Philadelphia near Colleges
I've had cheese pizza from this Philadelphia restaurant and the food was made well. The cheese and crust was thicker than what I have been used to buying at other restaurants. However, City View has their own style that makes a lot of Philadelphians favor the pizza there over other restaurants. The pizza at City View was too greasy in my opinion, but I know quite a few women and men who love this food.

This Philadelphia pizza restaurant has three locations throughout the city. Two are located near center city but all City View locations can be found on main streets. The City View Pizza restaurant located on Spring Garden Street near Community College seems to be the most popular one of the bunch. However, that does not take away the demand for food at the City View Pizza on Cecil B. Moore Avenue in the middle of Temple University's campus and the third one on Broad Street near Erie avenue.

Lazaro's Pizza in Philadelphia on 17th and South
Located further down South Street from Lorenzo & Son's, Lazaro's Pizza is a favorite among Center City and South Philadelphia residents. Lazaro's has been named as the Best Pizza in Philadelphia because of its unique taste and good deals on menu prices. There are jumbo slices of pizza served at Lazaro's with sweet tomato flavors. I have purchased plain pizza at this restaurant and would place Lazaro's on the list of an acquired taste. A few Philadelphia residents have told me that steaks, salads and sandwiches at Lazaro's Pizza are very good as well. Residents and travelers often mistake Lazaro's and Lorenzo & Son's restaurant for each other when talking about the best pizza in Philadelphia. This may be due to the fact that these two Pizza restaurants have names that are pronounced similarly and their South Street locations.
