Where to Find Black Friday Ads

Jillian McCoy
Before you decide to haul yourself out of bed in the middle of the night and fight angry shoppers for the last of whatever the year's hot gift item will be, it's a good idea to scope out the Black Friday sales. Knowing where to find the Black Friday ads is a smart part of the planning process. You may think you need to be at Best Buy to get a good deal on a new TV, but maybe Target has a better sale. Without checking the ads, you could miss out on significant savings. Holiday shopping is stressful enough - especially if you brave Black Friday. Make it easy on yourself, by learning where to find Black Friday ads online.

Where to Find Black Friday Ads

Black Friday Websites

There are a number of websites devoted solely to Black Friday. These are typically where Black Friday ads show up first, both when they're leaked and when they're officially released. Some also offer additional information, such as Cyber Monday deals and other holiday sales. BFAds is one of the most popular sites devoted to Black Friday, and BlackFriday.info is a great example of a site that offers a little extra. In addition to Black Friday information, this site offers information about the "Deal of the Day" offered by stores and online retailers every day in November. The deals are usually only good for a single item per day, but may offer Black Friday-quality savings without you having to leave the house. Bonus!

Coupon Sites

In addition to sites focused on Black Friday, coupon and deal websites are also a good place to scope out ads. Retail Me Not is one of the web's most popular coupon websites, and often features coupons that are hard to find elsewhere. This site also features a thriving community, who are likely to know about it (and provide links) if the ads are appearing online. Some stores don't print their ads until just before Black Friday, so scoping out RMN and similar sites is a good idea to get a jump on your shopping plans.

Where to Find Black Friday Ads

Store Websites

The official websites for stores are excellent sources for finding Black Friday ads, particularly since you know they're legitimate. Things often change between the "leaked" versions of the ads that show up online early and the official versions, so it's best to check a store's website to view ads whenever possible. Better to find out early than show up in the middle of the night for a product that isn't on sale! Some stores also provide printouts of their Black Friday sales to customers who visit the store. If you plan to spend Black Friday at a store you frequent, ask at the customer service desk whether they distribute flyers.

Online Communities

Especially in the current economic climate, everyone wants to save a little money. For this reason, there are tons of thriving online communities devoted to saving money. From coupons to parenting to frugality, many of these communities will feature information about how to save some cash for holiday shopping. Some online searches, such as for "topic + forum" (such as "frugal living forum"), are likely to yield good results.

Knowing where to find Black Friday ads is only part of making the year's biggest shopping day a success. With smart planning comes great savings.

This is such good advice. I've made it a point to avoid retail centers on Black Friday because I'm just not comfortable in those kinds of crowds. I might try it this year.
