Where to Find Cheap, Under $50 Prom Dresses for Teen Girls

Prom may still be a few months away but it's never too early to start looking for cheap prom dresses. My teen daughter and I discovered that that the closer you get to prom, the more difficult it is to find a prom dress, especially a cheap prom dress that's priced under $50. For girls who start early, finding a perfect but cheap prom dress for under $50 is possible by hitting stores like these.

Forever 21.

This fun teen store has lots of great prom dresses priced at $22 and up, with many right in that $30-40 price range. Here's the link to the Forever 21 catalog, check it out for yourself. These prom dresses are so affordable that you should be able to put together a complete outfit with shoes and jewelry for under $50.

Ross.

Ross may be a discount store with a limited selection, but it's really hard to beat the prices. The selection of prom dresses at Ross comes & goes, but with regular shopping you should be able to find a great prom dress in the $20-$35 range. Don't forget to check out the shoe section while at Ross for matching, strappy sandals.

Deb's.

Another fun teen shop, Deb's is great place to find cute under $50 prom dresses. In this price range, the dresses tend to be strapless and a bit on the plain side, but are easy to dress up with fun jewelry, trendy scarves, and awesome shoes. This is one my teen daughter's favorite store and no wonder. Wet Seal carries cool prom and party dresses at incredible prices with dresses starting as low as $22.50. You really should check out the catalog (wetseal.com) since all dresses ship for $5. Bonus for plus size juniors, Wet Seal is one of the few places we've seen that carry cute & sexy prom dresses in Junior Plus sizes.

The thrift stores.

It money is tight, and you can't find a friend to loan you a prom dress, another super cheap option is to hit the thrift stores for cheap prom dresses. Many girls won't wear a prom dress more than once, which is why so many of these gorgeous dresses end up in the thrift store. These beauties are usually priced at $50 or less (depending on the style) and are a fantastic bargain. Start early though, because the closer you get to prom, the harder it will be able to find a dress your size.
